listen it sucks that theres pro-us-military garbage in captain marvel like there is in every other mcu movie, but if u think 8 year old girls are gonna see a superhero movie and go “i wanna join the military like captain marvel!” and not “i wanna fly in space and shoot laserbeams out of my eyes like captain marvel!” youve never talked to a child in ur life and it shows. like we didnt have an epidemic of little boys wanting to join the military after captain america the first avenger. frozen didnt turn little girls into monarchists. like its not that deep its a marvel movie.

u guys dont know what actual propaganda is, theres children who are actually exposed to abusive military propaganda persistently throughout their childhoods and groomed to enter the army as soon as they turn 18. a fucking superhero movie isnt gonna make kids wanna be soldiers

except whys that so hard for u to imagine.. if seeing princesses with tiny waists and huge shiny eyes growing up affects body image theres no way to turn around and say kids .. esp little girls .. arent capable of taking things in and getting indoctrinated into patriotism.. like good on u if u havent seen that happen to kids but this is totally reductive. just because u may have been stupid doesnt mean all kids are

captain marvel is just one movie in the long list of military propaganda disguised as fantasy/sci fi. very few little girls are gonna grow up and go “well captain marvel was in the army so maybe i should join too,” but when you take impoverished and desperate teens who have spent their whole lives seeing images that put the military in a positive light and suggest joining will change your life for the better, captain marvel is just another push in that direction
