assalamu alaikum. as you may have heard, there were 40 people murdered and even more injured during a mass shooting today in christchurch, new zealand directed at two masjids. these families of these victims, who were brutally murdered in a hate crime committed by a white supremacist who literally wrote an 87-page anti-immigrant, anti-muslim manifesto prior to these shootings, are in extreme shock and grief right now. 

although nothing can reverse the terrible crime that happened this afternoon, it is more important now than ever to show these families support and solidarity. there is currently a launchgood fundraising campaign that has been set up by a nearby mosque to help support these grieving families. the funds will be distributed by nziic (new zealand islamic information centre). let us take this opportunity to show our solidarity with the victims and encourage love, tolerance, and unity. jazakum allahu khairan.
