where have i said that he didn’t suffer any consequences? he did something brave and i respect him for it but he is not an unsung hero and he is more celebrated than leen dweik who is a palestinian muslim woman. she was publicly vilified for standing up for herself and her community and as a muslim i don’t know how to tell you it is so upsetting and infuriating to see that happen to her. why do u feel threatened by me calling out the fact that he is the face of heroism in the wake of this tragedy when there’s abdul aziz who charged the shooter and dauod nabi who died trying to save someone else and hosne ara parvin who died protecting her husband? why do u feel threatened that i am calling out the fact that people have made this tragedy about him? he did something brave but he had a phone in his hand and it was supposed to be comical and it was celebrated more than leen dweik who shoved a lot of bravery and composure and what she did was more valuable and that’s the truth. its not wrong for me to want people to remember the victims and celebrate them and uplift people from our community
